In recent years, rapid changes in technology, workforce and the economy have influenced the way that individuals and organizations think about membership and engagement in their association. Associations need to evolve and grow to address the changing professional development and training needs of a diverse workforce.

Learning happens in many ways – classroom, webinars, formal, informal, social, mentorship programs, online communities. With changing demographics and with Millennials and Generation Z entering the workforce, it has never been more important to deliver learning experiences that create outcomes and impact performance.

The Professional Development Department enables the delivery of educational content based on adult learning principles, learning styles, brain science, accelerated methodologies and blended learning. From in-depth programs to micro learning, the Ewald Consulting Professional Development Department provides expertise and solutions specific to association programs that are designed for continuing education, certification and workforce learning and performance.

With a focus on innovative delivery methods, our team works with subject-matter experts to leverage analysis, design, assessment, implementation and evaluation to help your association serve as the preferred source of professional development in your industry.

Certification & Continuing Education Programs

Ewald Consulting manages nine certification programs. Twelve of our clients offer continuing education credits and issue certificates on their websites. All of our clients provide professional development for members and non-members through monthly programs, webinars and conferences.

Recognition Professionals International (RPI)

  • IACET Authorized Provider
  • RPI became an IACET Authorized Provider in 2008 and was recertified in 2013.
  • 390 professionals are Certified Recognition Professionals (CRP).
  • There are four levels to certification. CRP I is an online course and CRP II, III, IV are presented in person.
  • Recognition Fundamentals is a two-hour introduction course providing professional knowledge on recognition and to encourage certification.
  • RPI is currently researching integration of CRP levels I-IV into a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • The organization is working with David Cherrington, Brigham Young University, to update course content with job analysis based on a survey of recognition professionals and assessing their body of knowledge.
  • The CRP program is delivered at conferences as well as at member-hosted onsite programs through the year.
  • CRP graduates are required to recertify every three years with proof of qualified continuing education.

Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR) Fellowship Program

  • ASPR launched its Fellowship Designation program in 2007.
  • There are three levels to fellowship: Associate, Diplomat and Fellow. All are offered online and at the ASPR annual conference.
  • 200 members have attained Fellow Status.
  • Fellows must recertify every three years with appropriate education.

ASPR Fellowship Communication Plan

  • Prompt User to Take Exam: An email is sent to course attendees to remind them to sign up for the exam during their free 12-month window. Frequency: quarterly, and monthly in final three months.
  • Prompt Test Registrants to Complete Exam: An email is sent to anyone who has signed up for an exam but who has not completed it yet.
  • Frequency: quarterly, monthly in final three months.
  • Prompt Designees to Take Next Level of Fellowship: An email is sent to those who haven’t started to take 101; those who have attained the AASPR are encouraged to take the 201 exam; those who have attained the DASPR are prompted to sign up for conference or on-demand next step and complete the FASPR. Frequency: quarterly, as well as right before conference.
  • On-Demand Webinar Reminders: An email goes to anyone signed up for an on-demand webinar to complete the course before the 120-day window expires. Frequency: monthly until expiration date.
  • On-Demand Webinar Evaluations: Participants receive an email prompting them to complete the survey. Sent at expiration (120 days).
  • FASPR Recertification Emails: Emails are sent to remind those up for FASPR recertification that the deadline is approaching, along with a recap of requirements to recertify. Frequency: 1 year, 6 months, 3 months, 1 month before expiration.

Webinars

Ewald Consulting has been offering webinars using Adobe Connect Pro since 2010. We average 130 live webinars per year in addition to pre-recorded sessions. All webinars are archived for on-demand usage.

Learning Management System

YourMembership.com (YM) is the website platform that Ewald Consulting uses for its clients. YM recently acquired Digital Ignite LMS, which will be integrated within the YM platform. The Professional Development Department will utilize this new LMS for our own company as well as create a model for our clients.

Mentorship

While many associations have traditional mentorship programs, Ewald Consulting is pilot-testing a group mentoring model with the Minnesota Chiropractors Association (MCA). The MCA Mentoring Network is a six-month program to provide MCA student members an opportunity to connect with experienced MCA members in a group, social and collaborative environment. With a focus on group mentoring, members will learn from each other, in person and online. While most activity will be in a group setting, mentors agree to be contacted one on one as well. In addition to in-person meetings, there will be a Mentoring Network Online Forum Discussion Group, File Sharing, Network Directory and Blog.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to professional development for our own staff, Ewald Consulting offers internal training, webinars and support for programs and certifications in each area of staff expertise (e.g. Certified Association Executive, Certified Meeting Planner).

Two focus areas that we are enhancing and formalizing include a Staff Onboarding Program to ensure that our staff members are properly trained in their positions as well as in association management, company operations and procedures. In addition, we are currently developing the Ewald Leadership Academy. Launching in Fall 2015, this will be a six-month blended learning program for all of our staff to develop leadership skills in association management, volunteer engagement, facilitation, team building and developing a career path.

We will use the Digital Ignite LMS to integrate our staff professional development, onboarding and leadership academy. This will improve our company and be used as a model for our client associations as well.
