Ewald Consulting provides full service to 23 associations. The company was founded in 1982. Since then we have managed more than 3,000 events with attendance from 30 attendees to more than 1,200 over five days. We have served organizations in all stages of existence from start-up to mature.

Our company is organized using a departmental model. The departments are staffed with professionals in the following seven areas:

Government & Public Relations

Information Technology

Ewald Consulting was founded by former state Representative Doug Ewald in 1982 and since has grown steadily by providing high quality, affordable government relations services to numerous organizations and businesses. Our government relations team of five registered lobbyists provide comprehensive services to associations, nonprofits, businesses, and other professional organizations. Ewald Consulting’s President and CEO David Ewald has twenty years of experience in lobbying and public policy. Ewald Consulting performs lobbying and public relations work in two dozen states, in addition to Minnesota and at the federal level.

Ewald Consulting has invested significantly in our information technology infrastructure to provide our staff and clients the tools needed to effectively operate your association. We currently manage our clients in an Access database system that tracks membership, events registration, committee participation, demographics, professional specialties and more. This provides the opportunity to understand the profile of our members, to measure involvement and develop strategies to engage members and to custom market to sectors of the membership with meetings, products and services that meet their specific needs and interests. This system is integrated and synced with a robust integrated website.

Association Leadership & Administration

Finance/Accounting

When beginning a relationship with a new client, we establish a team comprised of representatives from the departments that will serve the client. The team is responsible for satisfying all client needs. These responsibilities include developing a transition and annual operations plan that encompasses all foreseeable responsibilities for the year. Each client is assigned an Executive Director that works with the staff team to make sure the associations goals are met and is the liaison between the board and Ewald Consulting.

A team of four professionals, including two CPAs manage our client financial activities. From preparation of monthly financial statements to handling accounts payable and accounts receivable, we work with our volunteer board of directors to provide financial management and accounting that you will understand. The Finance Department also prepares cash or accrual-based financial statements, review and make any necessary adjusting entries to the financial statements and coordinate necessary activities for the annual tax return and audit.

Member Services & Membership Development

Data-Driven Strategies

Customer Service – A live member services professional answer your phone and provides answers for your members right away or gets them to the right person. We have a sophisticated phone system that is staffed from 8:00 to 5:00 (Central) Monday thorough Friday. Clients are assigned individual phone numbers and the phone is answered in the name of the client. Voicemail is available for use after hours. Ewald Consulting is committed to going deeper for our clients and understands the importance of collecting and analyzing more data on the members of the association to better serve the members and plan for the future growth and strength of the organization as a whole. We are currently working with our clients on generational membership marketing strategies to meet the varying needs of four generations in the workplace.

Meetings & Events Management

Communications & Graphic Design

Your meetings and events are many times the most visible deliverable to your members. Our team of professional meeting planners have earned an excellent reputation for their skills in contract negotiation, site selection, project leadership, logistics planning and precise on-site execution of events. They manage 300 events annually with attendance from 25 to more than 1,500 attendees. Our communications department is staffed with awesome graphic designers and editors committed to creative, cool and effective communications for our clients.
