Amanda Ewald

Amanda received her first paycheck from Ewald Consulting at the age of 10 for stuffing envelopes. She graduated from envelopes to a variety of internships during high school and while attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She graduated from St. Olaf with a B.A. degree in Economics and a concentration in Finance and Management. Amanda became the first third-generation Ewald to work full-time at the company when she was hired in 2007 as Operations Manager. She currently serves as the Vice President of Finance and Client Accounting.

What you don't know about Amanda...

Q. What do you love about your job?
A. I love getting to work with all of the different members of the associations that we manage. I also love studying and working with numbers.

Q. What is the last book you read that you would recommend?
A. Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.

Q. What is your favorite city?
A. My favorite city is Lutsen, Minnesota. I have been going up there with my family since I was born and got married up there — so it is a special place to me!

Q. What do you like to do when you are not working?
A. I like to spend time with my family, my husband, and my dog. I enjoy running, cooking, reading, and fishing.


Jane Bernier

Jane has more than 30 years of experience ranging in the areas of administrative support, technical support, lab technician, customer service, marketing support and editing. Jane has been with Ewald Consulting since 2004, and previously worked for various corporations such as 3M, Ecolab, Control Data, IBM and others. Jane has college coursework in marketing, business, education and journalism from the University of Central Oklahoma, Inver Hills Community College (Minnesota) and Metro State University, St. Paul, Minnesota.

What you don't know about Jane...

Q. What is the best professional advice you ever received?
A. Never lower your own standards to fit the job or to match a working environment that doesn’t match up to them.

Q. What do you like to do when you are not working?
A. Biking, golfing, kayaking, and long walks with my beagle. I love music and reading. And of course, I love watching Downton Abbey! (And many other turn-of-the-century sagas).

Q. What is your favorite restaurant or food?
A. Probably Italian food and probably Mancini’s Char House and/or Cossetta’s in St. Paul, Minnesota. Again, it is hard to pick one.

Q. What is something most people don’t know about you?
A. I used to sing at weddings, funerals and hockey games.


Melissa Anderson

Melissa joined the Ewald staff in January 2006. Prior to joining Ewald, she worked for an attorney for 5 years as a legal assistant, managing the office and finances. Melissa has worked with many types of accounting programs and has more than 15 years of experience in working with financial records. Melissa is a graduate of Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.

What you don't know about Melissa...

Q. What do you love about working in the Finance Department?
A. Finance is much more than numbers — and I love the challenge of figuring things out, the variety of things I do and the people I work with.

Q. What is the last book you read that you would recommend?
A. The last book I read and highly recommend is My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

Q. What is your favorite city?
A. I haven’t traveled broadly, but I love Grand Marais and the entire northern part of Minnesota.

Q. What is something most people don’t know about you?
A. I have always loved writing, wrote many short stories as a kid and dreamed of being an author. I still hope it will happen someday.


Tommy DeMartino

Tommy DeMartino

Tommy DeMartino began working at Ewald Consulting in summer 2008 as an intern in the finance department. He has since graduated from the Curtis L. Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota with a BSB in Finance, and soon after joined Ewald full-time in the Finance Department. Tommy has worn many hats at Ewald Consulting, working as a student in three different departments, providing him a unique perspective on how each association is structured.

What you don't know about Tommy...

Q. What do you love about Finance and Accounting?
A. Helping other departments when they have questions about Accounts Receivable or event registrations.

Q. What do you like to do when you are not working?
A. Anything hockey-related.

Q. What is the best professional advice you ever received?
A. Don’t go where the puck is, go where the puck is going to be.

Q. What is something most people don’t know about you?
A. I’ve never traveled outside the United States.


Kari Pumper

Kari Pumper
Client Accounting Specialist

Kari joined Ewald Consulting in 2012 as a flex staff, and she’s worked onsite with a multitude of clients. She also worked behind the scenes updating Continuing Education credits. Prior to joining Ewald, she worked in Accounts Payable at Canterbury Park for 4 years. She has a B.S. from the University of St Catherine’s with double majors in Accounting and Financial Economics.

What you don't know about Kari...

Q: What is your favorite city?
A: Edinburgh, Scotland. I went there in college and would love to go back.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant?
A: Café Latte. I love their chicken salsa chili.

Q: What is the last book you would recommend?
J.D. Robb the In Death series. There are 42 books in the series some a little more gruesome then others, but still a good read for those that like mysteries.

Q: What do you love about your job?
A: I love that it’s never the same thing twice. Each client has different aspects of what they need us to do, which keeps things interesting.


Anne Solheid

Anne has more than 20 years of accounting and finance experience, including 10 years in public accounting as a C.P.A. She has also worked for Target Corporation and spent 6 six years working with Ewald Consulting and their clients as a consultant, prior to officially joining Ewald in 2018. Anne graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a B.A. degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.

What you don't know about Anne...

Q: What is the last book you read that you would recommend?
A: The Magnolia Story - I am a fan of Fixer Upper and it was interesting to learn how they started their business and expanded their brand.

Q: What do you like to do when you're not working?
A: I enjoy watching hockey, especially if my boys are playing. I also like to go for walks, garden and spend time with my family.

Q: What is something most people don't know about you?
I am the youngest of 7 and my husband has 8 siblings. It’s a good thing I love family because I have A LOT of them.

Q: What do you love about your job?
A: I love working with different organizations, helping them understand the financial side of their business. Hard to believe not everyone loves working with numbers!
