In this episode, we are joined by Laurie Pumper, Communication Director at Ewald. Laurie is also a founding member of our DE&I Team, which includes a book club. In this episode, Laurie tells us about how the book club is helping our company learn more about diversity.
- Our book club was founded during a critical time in the Twin Cities – the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder. The book club came together with the help of a group of employees who saw the importance of learning perspectives other than their own.
- If you’d like to form your own book club or equity team, buy-in from top leadership is huge. Laurie explained that this piece was crucial in getting the book club off the ground.
- While no one action will help solve diversity and equity issues, Laurie explained that initiatives like the book club have the capacity to effect real change. Explore your options and seek out opportunities that could help make your organization more inclusive!
